The Presidential Course on Sunday will focus on the numerous promising and exciting developments in the areas of IGRT, IMRT, molecular biology, systemic targeted radionuclide therapy and proton therapy with ample time for questions and answers. Effort has been made to summarize these developments so that the audience can critically evaluate, interpret and incorporate these modalities into their practices.Throughout the week, the scientific program will feature oral abstract presentations, poster discussion sessions, poster presentations, panel discussions, educational sessions and new technology. We received a record number of abstract submissions from 38 countries for the scientific program, with 36 percent of these from outside the United States. The goal of this exchange is to provide new opportunities for clinicians and scientists to discuss the advancement of therapeutic approaches from basic science into clinical practice. With the focus of this year’s meeting on expanding the horizons of radiation therapy, we have taken steps to not only expand but also enhance the technology available to attendees at the Annual Meeting. Enhancements will include more areas in the convention center with wireless Internet access, a Wi-Fi session room where attendees can download speaker presentations, improved virtual posters, a technology pavilion in the Exhibit Hall and the introduction of the eASTRO Computer Learning Lab. Details on these exciting new features can be found on page 10 of this brochure. The Annual Meeting also serves as an industry focal point, offering excellent interaction with the vendor community who will showcase the newest product developments and technologies in cancer treatment and care in our Exhibit Hall.
